MYKYOTO (formerly known as KUAM during this conference) with support of Kyoto University, Center for Southeast Asian Studies, Kyoto University, Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water Malaysia, and University of Malaya organized ISTECC 2015 in conjunction with 16th South East Asian Forum. The two days conference was organized at Furama Hotel Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur to gather academicians in various fields from Kyoto University to discuss about sustainable aspects and its impact in Asia.

 It was estimated 40 local and international participants involved to discuss and share views on the research progress related to green technology and sustainable development issues. This is absolutely could help to promote Malaysia as an institutional hub and research networks among participants to connect ideas towards policy and reality from South-Eastern and Japanese researcher. This will expand information access for scientific community in Malaysia towards the scientific world, technology, social, economy and engineering community.

 The conference was begun with the welcoming speech by Prof Dr. Hamdi Abd Shukor as the Chairman of KUAM and Vice Chancellor in Academics and International, University of Malaya. It was subsequently followed with the keynote speaker by Prof. Dr. Shiro Saka (Kyoto University), Prof. Dr. Masahiro Shioji (Kyoto University) and Prof. Dr. Dahlan Zainal (Malaysia). The first day was scheduled with the conference session presented by participants. On the second day, the participants were involved in the technical visit to the University of Malaya.

Kyoto Alumni Association Malaysia (MYKYOTO) under the collaboration with Kyoto University, National University of Malaysia and Kyoto University ASEAN Center organized the 2nd ISTECC at the Puri Pujangga Hotel, UKM. It was organized in conjunction with the 2nd Kyoto University South East Asian Forum. Under the theme “Towards Sustainability in Asian Cities”, this conference was held for a day on 13th February 2016. The ceremony was begun with welcoming address by Prof. Yoshihiro Tokuga, Vice President of Kyoto University and Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazlin Mokhtar, Vice Chancellor UKM. Subsequently followed with the keynote speaker by Prof. Yosuke Yamashiki Kyoto University, Graduate school of Advance Integrated Studies in Human Survivability, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Yusof Hj. Othman, Director of Islam Hadhari Institute, Prof. Dr. Ismail Abustan, School of Civil Engineering, University of Science Malaysia, Prof. Hiroaki Tanaka, Kyoto University research Center for Environment Quality Management.

 26 presentations were scheduled according to 4 presentation slots and divided into the discussion topics of mechanical engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering and science social. There were about 50 participants comprised of researchers, lecturers, students and 8 Kyoto University delegates joined this conference.

Kyoto University International Symposium

Kyoto University Hadhari in collaboration with LEGASI, Islam Hadhari Institute, National University of Malaysia and Kyoto Alumni Association Malaysia (MYKYOTO) organized the Kyoto University International Symposium in conjunction with International Sustainable Technology, Energy and Civilization Conference (ISTECC 2018) and 9th International Symposium on Islam, Civilization and Science (ISICAS 2018). Under the theme “Japan-Malaysia Initiatives on New Asian-Islamic Civilizational Paradigm”, this conference was held on 10-12th December 2018.

During this conference, MYKYOTO committee members also took an opportunity to meet and discuss with Malaysian students who are currently studying in Kyoto University. This meeting was held to discuss the future path for MYKYOTO since they will become members of Kyoto Alumni Association Malaysia once they graduated and went home to Malaysia.
