YBhg Dr Muhammad Hakimi Bin Mohd Shafiai is currently a Senior Lecturer at the School of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Management, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Selangor, Malaysia. At the same time, he was also appointed as an Assistant Special Officer for YABhg Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia. He received both of his Bachelor and Masters Degree in Syariah from University of Malaya. For his doctorate, he lived in Kyoto for 3 years, doing research on Islamic Economics at the Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies, Kyoto University. Since 2004 doing research, he made significant contribution in the field of Islamic Economics, Islamic Philanthropy (Waqf), Islamic Agriculture Finance and Islamic Microfinance at the national and international level. Due to his excellence and leadership, he was entrusted as the Chairman of the Kyoto Alumni Assocation Malaysia (MYKYOTO) from 2016-2018 and 2018-2020.
